Frozen shoulder — a slow condition that responds to the right protocol.

Adhesive capsulitis is one of the longer-resolving conditions we treat. With the correct sequencing of manual therapy, technology, and rehabilitation, most patients regain meaningful function over 3–6 months.

Recognise these symptoms?

  • Progressive loss of shoulder range of motion
  • Pain at the outer or front of the shoulder
  • Pain that worsens at night and disturbs sleep
  • Difficulty reaching overhead, behind the back, or across the body

If three or more sound familiar, a 60-minute first visit — assessment and treatment with a doctor — will tell you what is producing them, and whether our care is the right path for your condition.

What it is

Frozen shoulder — adhesive capsulitis — is a condition where the shoulder capsule becomes thickened and inflamed, severely restricting movement. It often develops in stages over months and can be slow to resolve without intervention. The condition is more common in adults aged 40–60 and in those recovering from a period of shoulder immobilisation.

Our treatment approach

Frozen shoulder responds well to a combined protocol of manual mobilisation, soft tissue release, and progressive range-of-motion rehabilitation. We sequence the treatment to the stage of the condition — pain reduction and gentle mobilisation in the freezing phase, structured mobilisation and exercise in the frozen phase, and full rehabilitation through the thawing phase.

Modalities used

  • Shoulder mobilisation
  • Radial shockwave therapy
  • Low-level laser therapy
  • Rehabilitative exercise
  • Myofascial release

What to expect

Frozen shoulder is a slow-resolving condition. Most patients see meaningful progress over a 3–6 month treatment arc, with the rate of progress determined by the stage of the condition at the start of care.

If this matches your symptoms

  • Most cases of frozen shoulder are non-surgical when treated with the right protocol.
  • Every patient begins with a 60-minute first visit — a full assessment and first treatment with a doctor, for $88 online.
  • If our care is not the right path for your condition, we will say so and refer you on.
Frequently asked

Common questions.

Our patient-care team is happy to walk through anything else over the phone or WhatsApp.

In most cases, yes. Conservative treatment for frozen shoulder resolves the condition for the majority of patients without surgery. We will tell you honestly if your case is one where surgical consultation is the right path.
No referral is required. If you have prior imaging — X-ray, MRI, specialist correspondence — bringing it to the first consultation helps the clinician build a more complete picture from the start.
