Narrowing of the spinal canal is a long-term, progressive condition. With the right conservative care, most patients can maintain or improve function for years before surgery becomes necessary.
If three or more sound familiar, a 45-minute clinical assessment will tell you what is producing them — and whether our care is the right path for your condition.
Book consultation — $88 →Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal that produces compression of the spinal cord or nerve roots. It is most common in adults over fifty and is usually caused by age-related changes — disc degeneration, ligament thickening, and bone spur formation. Symptoms classically include leg pain or weakness that worsens with walking and improves with sitting or bending forward.
Conservative care for spinal stenosis focuses on reducing the mechanical compression where possible, building strength and mobility in the surrounding structures, and helping the patient maintain function. Surgery is reserved for severe cases that fail to respond to conservative management.
Spinal stenosis is a chronic, progressive condition. Most patients can be helped to maintain or improve function with a structured conservative care plan over a 3–6 month treatment arc, followed by maintenance.
